Laurent a eu son premier disque à neuf ans, une compilation des Beatles offerte par sa grand-mère, achetée chez l'électroménager du coin. Il n'a jamais arrêté depuis. Une mère qui écoutait du jazz, de la bossa nova, Sinatra et Gainsbourg, une platine à lui dans sa chambre à treize ans, puis le rock, le punk, le reggae, le jazz, le funk, le premier hip-hop, et tout ce que les nouvelles radios du début des années 80 faisaient découvrir.Laurent got his first record at nine, a Beatles compilation from his grandmother, bought at the local electrical shop. He never stopped. A mother who played jazz, bossa nova, Sinatra and Gainsbourg, his own turntable in his bedroom at thirteen, then rock, punk, reggae, jazz, funk, early hip-hop and everything the new radio stations of the early eighties opened up.
Cinquante ans plus tard, la collection dépasse les quinze mille disques, rangés par genre, puis par artiste, label ou producteur, dans l'ordre où ils sont sortis. Soul, funk, jazz, reggae, rare groove et musique brésilienne en font le cœur, avec du hip-hop et de la house autour, et le rock des débuts toujours là. Ce sont des disques achetés en creusant, dans les vide-greniers de France, les bacs à un dollar des États-Unis, les boutiques de Rio, de Tokyo, de Seattle. Un collectionneur éclectique, dit-il, qui s'ennuie quand une soirée ne joue qu'un seul genre.Fifty years on, the collection passes fifteen thousand records, filed by genre, then by artist, label or producer, in the order they came out. Soul, funk, jazz, reggae, rare groove and Brazilian music are the core, with hip-hop and house around them and the rock he started with still in the racks. They were bought by digging: French vide-greniers, dollar bins in America, shops in Rio, Tokyo and Seattle. An eclectic collector, he says, who gets bored when a night plays only one genre.

- Pourquoi le vinyle ?Why vinyl?
- « Le vinyle me donne le contact avec la musique, plus les informations dont j'ai besoin sur un disque. J'aime le format, la pochette, les notes, les photos du groupe, la façon dont les morceaux sont organisés. »"Vinyl gives me the tactile connection with the music, plus the information I need from a record. I love the format, the artwork, the liner notes, the photos of the band, the way the tracks are organised."
- Où trouve-t-on ses disques ?Where does he find them?
- « Partout, vraiment. Mes endroits préférés sont les marchés aux puces et les disquaires, à l'étranger quand je voyage. En France on a les vide-greniers, le dimanche : tout un quartier qui vide ses greniers et ses caves dans la rue. La plupart de ma collection Gainsbourg vient de là, à un euro pièce. »"Everywhere and anywhere really, but my favourite spots are flea markets and record stores abroad when travelling. In France we have vide-greniers on Sundays, a whole neighbourhood emptying attics and cellars into the street. Most of my Serge Gainsbourg collection comes from there, for a euro apiece."
- Pressage original ou réédition ?Original pressing or repress?
- « Je préfère l'occasion à la réédition quand j'ai le choix. J'aime les disques qui ont une histoire. Je commence par l'édition que je trouve, puis, si le disque compte vraiment pour moi, je vais vers le pressage original. »"I prefer second-hand over a new repress when I have a choice. I like records with history. I typically start with any edition I can find, then, if I really care about the record, I manoeuvre my way into the original pressing."
